Carter is starting to get older and with
getting older comes the dreaded
"talk".
Carter and I had this talk minus the more
adult topics a few months ago.
However I am sure there were things I left out
or questions she had that she didn't know she had.
When I got the chance to review the
I knew it couldn't have been better timing.
I mean all the signs are there for Carter.
It could be any day.
The ladies at Dot Girl have come up with a great system
for talking with your daughters about
the changes coming in their lives.
I mean really do you remember your puberty talk
with your Mom or maybe even worse your Dad?
Honestly nothing was ever off topic with my
Mom but she was a nurse.
The Dot Girl First Period Kit looks like this
when you first get it.
and contains
Inside the kit are:
Carrying case
5 Pads
5 Disposable Bags
2 Hand Wipes
A warm pad (that is reusable) for cramps
and
the question and answer book
To give you an idea of some of the questions:
How many days will I bleed?
When will I get my first period?
How do I track my period?
What about cramps?
I gave the kit to Carter and she went off to read it in private.
About 10 minutes later she called me in her room
to ask me only 1 question
Her question was
"It says to change my pad every 3-4 hours?"
"What if the teacher wont let us go to the bathroom that often"
To which I told her to tell her quietly that she has her period and the teacher will be ok with it.
Overall she said that if I had not already told
her most of the things in the book
"It would have taught her a lot"
Which as a mother made me feel like I was doing my job well.
If you have any soon to be growing up girls the
Dot Girl First Period Kit is great.
It can easily be thrown into a backpack for the unexpected.

*I was sent a Girls First Period Kit for review from the company. No other monetary compensation was exchanged. All opinions are 100% mine and are true and honest*
My daughter would be so embarrassed that I'm entering, but she's getting that age, too! ;) That's a great idea to keep one of those around though for sure.
