Happy Patriot's Day

I love holidays and now I have a new one to celebrate!
Here in Mass they celebrate
Patriot's Day.

The beginning of the Revolutionary War basically.
Considering how much early
American history took place here it
makes perfect sense.

From Wikipedia:
Patriots' Day (officially Patriots' Day in Massachusetts[1] and Patriot's Day in Maine[2]) is a civic holidayBattles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. It is observed in Massachusetts[3] and Maine[4] (once part of Massachusetts), and is a public school observance day in Wisconsin.[5] Observances and re-enactments of these first battles of the American Revolution occur annually at Lexington Green in Lexington, Massachusetts, (around 6:00 am) and The Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts, (around 9:00 am). In the morning, a mounted re-enactor with state police escort retraces Paul Revere's ride, calling out warnings the whole way.

So this morning at 415 my alarm goes off
and I start waking up the crew
who are out for Spring Break this week.
We head out for the opening shots of the war
at the Lexington Green only 5 minutes from the house.
It starts at 6 and getting there by 530 should be good right?
Umm holy people batman...

These dedicated "patriots" have brought ladders
to stand on so they can watch the
10 minute battle better.

Here are a few of the picture we could actually
get from our on the "hill" view of the battle...

Little Hulk wanted to see...
The Minute Men of Lexington Mass
The British are coming...
 First shots
 The British Red Coats

On their way from Lexington Mass to Concord Mass

We are headed back out later this afternoon
after the kiddos take a much needed
early nap this morning.

So again Happy Patriot's Day
to you all!
And for any of you marathon runners...
today is also the annual
Boston Marathon which I will NOT
be braving the crowds to watch.
Maybe next year depending on
the hubby's Marine Corps Marathon time in October.
